Winery Story
Eli Ben Zaken planted his first Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Judean Hills in 1988, inspired by his love of Bordeaux during years spent in France. Today, Domaine du Castel is universally recognised as Israel's greatest winery. The Grand Vin has won the country's most prestigious wine competition multiple times and has been compared favourably to classified Bordeaux châteaux by international critics. Production is intentionally tiny — under 60,000 cases — ensuring uncompromising quality from their biologically farmed estate vineyards at 700–800 metres elevation.
